Oral Health For Lodi Diabetics

Oral Health For Lodi Diabetics

Today’s dental article is titled ‘Oral Health For Lodi Diabetics.’ Many diabetics have dental problems. However, gum disease, tooth loss, and periodontal disease are not unavoidable.

Blood sugar is the complicating factor. Sacramento diabetics who control their blood sugar have lower rates of dental problems. In fact, many Sacramento dentists have noticed no increased risk of dental disease among diabetics who maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

When blood sugar levels rise, the amount of sugars and starches increase in your mouth. These substances combine with the bacteria naturally present to create enamel-eroding plaque. Untreated plaque creates cavities.

In addition to cavities, Lodi dental patients with diabetes need to be vigilant about gum health. Because diabetes can make it harder to control the growth of bacteria, the amount of plaque in your mouth can multiply quicker. Plaque not only causes cavities, it inflames and weakens gum tissue and eventually the bone surrounding teeth.

Untreated gum disease progresses to periodontitis, a more severe infection. Because Sacramento diabetics have a lower resistance to infection, it can be difficult to reverse periodontitis in people with diabetes. To make matters even worse, the presence of infection can make it harder to maintain a healthy blood sugar level.

Bottom line? 1: Brush and floss regularly to prevent plaque build-up. 2: See your dentist for twice-yearly cleanings to remove any plaque and tartar that has accumulated under the gumline.

Dr. Neal at The Lodi Dentist is accepting new patients in the Lodi, Galt, Lockeford, Stockton, and surrounding areas. We can help diabetic dental patients keep their smile beautiful. If you are in need of cosmetic dentistry because of diabetes related decay or gum disease, we can restore your beautiful smile with the latest tooth restoration options. Wear A Crown In Sacramento

Wear A Crown In Sacramento

Some Lodi residents who have a weak or broken tooth may want to research dental crowns as a solution to improve their smile and overall oral health. A crown is really a cap or covering that is tooth-shaped and when it is in place, it will cover the portion of the covered tooth that is above the gum line.

Crowns can be made of metals, resin, ceramic, porcelain, or a porcelain-fused-to-metal material. Your Lodi area dentist will usually put in a temporary crown while a permanent crown is being created especially for your mouth in a dental laboratory.

Dental crowns have been used successfully in Lodi cosmetic dentistry for decades.

Many Galt, Lockeford, and Stockton dentists use crowns when performing smile makeovers to cover patient’s discolored or poorly shaped teeth. Strong, natural-looking crowns are also used with dental implants.

If you think a dental crown may be right for you, check with your Sacramento dentist. Or, if you are searching for quality dental care in the Sacramento area, call us here at The Lodi Dentist. We are located in Lodi and have been serving the greater Lodi area since 2013. We are currently accepting new patients at our state-of-the art, yet warm and comfortable dental office.

Call us at (209) 369-3657 and our patient-centered staff can answer any questions you have about teeth whitening in Lodi, veneers, enamel shaping, or any other cosmetic dental, general oral health, or dental financing questions.

Tooth Whitening And Your Dentist

Tooth Whitening And Your DentistTooth whitening has become one of the most popular dental procedures in California. It seems that everyone in Lodi is whitening their teeth to help their smiles look younger and brighter. Many residents in the Sacramento area are turning to over-the-counter solutions to whiten their teeth, however their can be dangers and pitfalls to this approach.

Here is some basic advice on tooth whitening from The Lodi Dentist:

First, we encourage you to visit our office in Lodi before starting a tooth whitening system. It is a good idea to have your teeth checked and analyzed before starting a tooth whitening program.

Drs. Neal, Kalapsa and Khan at The Lodi Dentist can help you determine whether your teeth can be whitened safely and effectively. We can also recommend tooth whitening solutions that will work best for you. There are many pitfalls to be aware of when whitening your teeth. Over-the-counter teeth whitening products available in the Lodi area will provide varying degrees of effectiveness on your teeth. If used improperly, tooth whitening solutions can cause problems including tooth sensitivity, over whitening, damage to your tooth enamel, and irregular coloration. Whitening too much can even have a reverse effect, making your teeth look gray.

Most tooth whitening product manufacturers recommend that you visit your local Lodi dentist when things go wrong with your over-the-counter tooth whitening solution. We recommend you begin with the patient-centered professionals at The Lodi Dentist to get started with a tooth whitening solution that will give you the best tooth whitening results.

Our office is located at 1104 S Fairmont Ave, Lodi, California 95240. Please give us a call or stop by to make an appointment to discuss your tooth whitening plans. We are eager to help you make the best decision about your tooth whitening.

Our patient-centered is available to discuss tooth whitening solutions, explain tooth whitening options, and check your teeth to make sure you will get the tooth whitening results you want.

I look forward to seeing your beautiful bright smile.

Developing Good Dental Habits In Galt

Developing Good Dental Habits In Galt

Benjamin Franklin once said:

It is easier to prevent bad habits than to break them.

This holds true for almost everything in life, including dental care. For parents in the Galt, Lodi and Stockton areas, teaching your children good oral hygiene techniques early in life will help them avoid the lifelong consequences.

If you wait too long to teach your child how to brush and floss, or if you don’t make sure they are doing it enough, you’re setting yourself up for a lot of work down the road.

It’s very hard to convince an older child that they should be spending two or three times longer brushing their teeth each morning and night. But, if they’ve done it for as long as they can remember, then their habits should be sufficient to avoid excessive dental decay or the need for children’s cosmetic dentistry in Lodi.

We’re Drs. Neal, Kalapsa and Khan, dentists serving the Galt area. We know that helping children learn proper oral hygiene is a critical indicator of future oral health, and we want to help parents teach these habits to their children.

If you are looking for quality dental care in the Galt, Lodi, or Stockton area, give us a call here at The Lodi Dentist. We are currently accepting new patients, and we would love to help you learn how to teach kids good brushing habits or answer questions you have have about cosmetic dentistry or smile makeovers.

What Can Fluoride Do For You, Galt?

Hello, and welcome to the Lodi Dental Blog. Today we will be answering questions about fluoride: “What is it exactly, and why is it so beneficial to your dental health?”

Fluoride is a mineral, plain and simple. Fluoride occurs naturally in different foods as well as in water. Fluoride is also added to many of the oral care products sold in Galt, Lodi, and Stockton stores. This makes it possible for you to apply fluoride to your teeth when you brush your teeth or use mouth rinses.

And why would you want to put fluoride on your teeth? Because it will help to prevent tooth decay, of course! Fluoride does this by giving the teeth increased resistance against the acid attacks brought on by plaque bacteria as well as sugar in the mouth.

Fluoride is especially important for kids. Between the ages of 6 months and 16 years old, both the primary and the permanent teeth come in, therefore fluoride exposure is extremely beneficial. But, stay tuned, adults: the benefits of topical fluoride are available to you as well!

This miracle mineral is also applied to teeth during routine cleanings at Galt and Lodi dental offices.

We’re Drs. Neal, Kalapsa and Khan and we have a full-service dental practice in Lodi. Helping our dental patients maintain optimal dental health is important to us, and so is helping them achieve the smile they want through cosmetic dentistry procedures such as veneers, teeth whitening and complete smile makeovers.

Our practice, The Lodi Dentist has been serving the Galt, Lodi, and Stockton areas since 2013, and we would like you to be our next satisfied patient. Please contact us at (209) 369-3657 so we can make an appointment for you.

Is Malocclusion Causing Your Headache?

Lodi Headache Relief Are you a Lodi adult who suffers with chronic headaches? Have you tried Imitrex, diet adjustments, and chiropractic treatment? Perhaps the cause is not stress-induced tension, spine alignment or eyestrain. Maybe the culprit is right under your nose.

Bite misalignment or malocclusion is a common Lodi problem that often goes undetected. Nature intended the front teeth to fit slightly forward from the lower teeth. With a perfect bite, the molars fit together like precision gears.

Malocclusion can cause headaches, tooth loosening, tooth fracture, and in extreme cases, difficulty chewing, speaking or breathing.

Lodi braces are an effective solution for most bite problems. Braces not only move teeth, they can also correct the position and function of the joints, muscles and bones in the jaw. In cases of extreme malocclusion, jaw surgery in Lodi may be necessary.

Not all Galt and Lockeford family dentists treat bite problems. At The Lodi Dentist we treat all types of malocclusion including overbite, underbite and crossbite. For an affordable Lodi dentistry consultation, call us at (209) 369-3657.

The Lodi Dentist offers technologically-advanced dentistry in a friendly environment. We offer smile whitening, veneers, tooth-colored fillings and dental implants. To learn more about our dental philosophy and available procedures, see https://www.thelodidentist.com/dental-services/.

Why Aren’t You Smiling?

Hello, we’re Drs. Neal and Hoff. Our dental practice is called The Lodi Dentist. We are located at 1104 S Fairmont Ave in Lodi (95240), and you can reach us by calling (209) 369-3657.

You can probably imagine why we look at smiles everywhere we go in the Lodi, Galt, and Stockton areas. Whether we’re working with a dental patient, having dinner at a restaurant, or attending a sporting event, we notice whether the people around us smile. Whenever we encounter someone with obvious tooth problems, we want to tell them about the procedures that can completely transform their frown into a healthy and beautiful smile.

Are you one of those people who doesn’t want to show their teeth? We would love to talk to you about a smile makeover. Whatever your excuse is for not seeking dental treatment, We can discuss all of your concerns with you during a free consultation.

Perhaps the cost of Lodi cosmetic dentistry is holding you back. Our patient-centered staff will be happy to talk to you about financing plans. It is important to remember that if your teeth are decayed, postponing treatment will cost more money in the long run. Filling a cavity is far more affordable dentistry than a root canal procedure or, in the case of an extracted tooth, a dental implant.

You can contact our office at (209) 369-3657 or online at:  https://www.thelodidentist.com/

We can transform your smile into one that you will want to show all the time!

5 Ways To Floss Daily In Lodi

Hello Lodi! If you want to floss regularly but are too tired at night, this post is for you. In our The Lodi Dentist blog, we want to give you a few ideas for unique times to floss and keep your teeth and gums healthy.

1. If you’re an early riser, try flossing in the morning right after you brush.

2. Try just after lunch, but before you go back to work.

3. Before or after you exercise. Your oral health is just as important as your physical fitness. Keep some floss in your gym bag and give your teeth and gums some attention along with the rest of your body.

4. During the nightly news.

5. While taking a bath. Any task is more enjoyable if it can be done while relaxing in a warm tub. Light some scented candles, play some soothing music and turn off your cell phone for an at-home spa experience.

Flossing is essential for anyone in Lodi who wants to have a healthy smile. I hope this gives you some ideas to help you make flossing part of your daily routine. Just before bedtime, however, is still the best choice. Food particles left on teeth can turn to plaque while you sleep. The bacteria in plaque erodes enamel, creates cavities, and adversely affects gum tissue.

If you want to improve your smile, look into cosmetic dentistry procedures such as teeth whitening, invisible braces or porcelain veneers.

We are Drs. Neal, Kalapsa and Khan. Our practice is located in Lodi. Helping our dental patients establish good habits is important to us, as well as helping them achieve the smile they want with cosmetic dentistry procedures such as veneers, porcelain crowns, and complete smile makeovers.

We are currently accepting new patients, so give us a call at (209) 369-3657 to make an appointment!

Can You Name 9 Dental Specialties?

Stockton General and Cosmetic Dentistry

Most Stockton people probably know how a pediatric dentist differs from an orthodontist. Some Lockeford folks may even know the unique focus of endodontists. But few California residents are probably aware that the American Dental Association recognizes nine dental specialties. Today’s post looks at the specific disciplines within the fascinating world of dentistry and the years in which they were formally recognized by the ADA. (If you want a challenge, see if you can name all nine before you continue reading this post.)

Endodontics (1983): This area focuses on “the morphology, physiology and pathology of the human dental pulp and periradicular tissues.”1 If you need a root canal in Lodi, you may require the services of an endodontist.

Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (2003): If you want to straighten your teeth, you need an orthodontist. Dentofacial orthopedic specialists correct facial deformities using many of the same types of appliances used in teeth straightening therapy.

Pediatric Dentistry (1995): Stockton pediatric dentists provide dental care for infants, children and teenagers.

Periodontics (1992): “Periodontics is that specialty of dentistry which encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth or their substitutes.”1 Periodontal specialists perform crown lengthening, pocket reduction, and soft tissue (gum) grafts. If you have severe gum disease

Prosthodontics (2003): Prosthodontists provide restorative dental procedures including dental implants, crowns, bridges, and dentures. They also perform cosmetic dental treatments including porcelain veneers, crowns, dental bonding, invisible fillings, and teeth bleaching.

Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (1991): This specialty concerns “the nature, identification, and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions. It is a science that investigates the causes, processes, and effects of these diseases. The practice of oral pathology includes research and diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical, or other examinations.”1

Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology
(2001): Oral and maxillofacial radiologists analyze radiographic images (x-rays) for issues of the maxillofacial area.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (1990): Oral surgeons perform surgery on the teeth, jaw, face, and gums. These include facial reconstruction, cleft lip and palate correction, bone grafting, dental implants, and impacted teeth.

Dental Public Health (1976): This discipline focuses on “preventing and controlling dental diseases and promoting dental health through organized community efforts.”1

General dentists and cosmetic dentists in the Lodi area are trained in a wide variety of dental procedures. However, sometimes your Sacramento general dentist will refer you to a local Sacramento specialist, or include a specialist as part of your treatment team.
